Dr. John Poovey, DMD
Twenty-two years of implant and denture dentistry in Grand Junction — and one dentist who stays with you from the first X-ray to the final fitting.

Trained at the top of his class
Dr. Poovey graduated magna cum laude from Boston University's Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he was voted the number one clinical graduate of his class. He brought that training to the Western Slope and has spent his career here since.
Recognised by his own profession
Credentials in implant dentistry are earned, not bought — and the ones that matter come from the specialty academies that set the standards.
- 2023 Innovation Award — American Academy of Osseointegration, the leading implant research body in the country.
- Diplomate, International Congress of Oral Implantology.
- Mastership, American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics.
- Key opinion leader for the Zest fixed implant solution — meaning he teaches other dentists how to use it.
Working alongside a periodontist
Dr. Poovey is joined at A New You by Dr. Kristen Yant, DMD, MS, a board-certified periodontist. It means the two questions that decide most complex cases — can this tooth be saved, and will there be enough bone — get answered together in one appointment rather than becoming two separate opinions.
Why one dentist matters
Full-arch implant work is a chain: the surgical plan, the placement, the temporary teeth, the bite, the final restoration. Every hand-off in that chain is a place where information gets lost.
At A New You there are no hand-offs. Dr. Poovey plans your case, places your implants and delivers your final teeth. If something needs adjusting two years from now, the person adjusting it is the person who designed it.
Something worth asking any practice you visit: who, by name, is placing the implants — and will that same person still be there for the follow-up? At corporate-owned clinics the answer often changes between visits. Here it doesn't.
How he practises
Plain language, no pressure, and an honest answer when a cheaper option would serve you just as well. Patients drive in from Fruita, Palisade, Delta, Montrose and Glenwood Springs, and the schedule is built to get more done per trip for people travelling.
